Geography: The Philippines lies off the southeast coast of Asia between Taiwan and Borneo in the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea. It is composed of 7,107 islands, 2,773 of which are named. The two largest islands, Luzon in the north and Mindanao in the south, account for 65% of the total land area and contain 60% of the country’s population. Many of the islands in the Philippines are extinct volcanoes and atolls.
The islands are further divided into 17 regions, 81 provinces, 131 cities, 1,491 municipalities and 41,994 barangays.
Climate: Warm and extremely humid! Temperatures range from 78 degree Fahrenhiet/25 degree Celsius to 90 degree Fahrenheit/32 degree Celsius. Mean humidity is at 77%.
